IED is seeking a Mechanical Engineer. The Mechanical Engineer creates the mechanical specifications documentation, production documentation, develops new products and provides overall mechanical hardware support to the company. Provides data and design suggestions to insure new products are cost effective and easily manufactured.

• Conduct detailed design and specifications development for special plates, silk screens labels and mechanical assemblies associated with items for IED’s products.
• Develop/maintain standards, processes the CAD database for mechanical engineering and assembly production documentation.
•  Investigate and develop cost reducing techniques for designing, fabrication, assembling and documenting IED’s mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Coordinate with purchasing and other operations to obtain new mechanical components so that prototype and first production builds can be completed in an efficient and timely manner.
• Provide support for other departments as appropriate.
• Perform other tasks as directed by Manager of Hardware Engineering.

Requirements

• Be able to set mechanical design directions for IED products. Organize, direct and complete multiple projects in a timely manner.
•  Competent with Windows Office Applications, 3D CAD (Mechanical Desktop preferred).
• Knowledge of electronic circuits and the processes employed to manufacture and test surface mount and through whole PCB assemblies.
• Knowledge of mechanical materials (metals, plastics, etc.) used in commercial electronics.
• Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software package, Vantage preferred
• Ability to systematically solve complex problems under pressure.
• Exceptional communication skills.

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, electrical engineering technology or equivalent.
