- Senior Hardware Engineer -
Department: Hardware
Level of Authority / Accountability: Reports to Hardware Engineering Manager
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher in EE or CS, with courses in C and assembly languages or sufficient relevant work experience.
Skills Requirements:

Circuit design skills; use of design tools and lab equipment; well organized and able to oversee and direct the work of more junior engineers. Knowledge of audio concepts and circuits. Preferably knowledgeable in embedded systems, and to some degree of DSP and PLD programming.
Basic Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design of new products and maintenance of existing products by doing the work and/or leading others in performing the work. Design work may include creating schematics, layouts, parts lists, firmware development, DSP code development, including overseeing this work done by others, either within IED or contracted out.
  • Debug prototype designs and assist in solving Pilot or Regular Production problems with products.
  • Review and provide information required to Production Engineering for production release.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide assistance/mentoring/coaching for more junior staff in the department.
  • Assist in providing supporting documentation for products, as well as input on appropriate tests and performance/acceptance criteria for new or existing products.
  • Assist in training staff in other departments on the testing, PLD/firmware loading or configuration of the productions as necessary.
  • Assist the Hardware Engineering Manager in ensuring that ISO and other company procedures are followed by department staff, and in the education/development of department staff.
  • Assist the Hardware Engineering Manager in the development of project plans (milestones, timelines, etc.), in status reporting and in other liason tasks (e.g., cost estimates to Sales for custom hardware work).
