IED Systems include the capability for monitoring audio paths and automatic testing supervision. These features provide important diagnostics to verify systems are operating correctly and ensure availability.

IED audio monitoring provides the ability to listen to, and measure audio levels at selective points in the audio path. Monitoring points are selected in user software and routed to a monitoring speaker in the equipment or control room.

Automatic testing and supervision is a system function that continuously tests the audio path and verifies that audio is reaching the speakers. The IED method is unique in that it measures at both audible and inaudible frequencies to provide continuous testing to meet the requirements of NFPA-72. Each test point is individually configured based on the type of testing desired.

IED tests audio components as well as supervises opens, shorts, changes in speaker load and end-of-line testing of speaker circuit continuity.

Monitoring and Supervision for Titan Digital Systems is integral to the system and requires no additional hardware or software with the exception of 596EOL’s if end-of-line supervision is required.

Monitoring and Supervision for Analog Systems consist of:

  • A 590A-2 Signal Analysis Card that creates test signals and analyzes the results.
  • One or more 596M Audio Monitor/Test Mainframes for connecting the analog or DC points to be tested.
  • 610 Monitor/Test Software for the system server.
  • 596SGFI Dual Channel sensors for speaker lines.
  • 596EOL Speaker end-of-line sensor.
